Casey pulls up in her hand-me-down Trans Am. She gets out of her car when the dust settles. She walks to the door of the ranch house and pulls out her keys, her hands shaking. "I'm finally a Californian" She chuckles to herself. She opens the door, and her breath is almost caught. Inside the house is a beautiful, cabin-like interior. She immediately gets to work making the place more like her old home, and keeping the woodsy charm. She peers out the living room windows and can see the Sierra Navads. "I could get used to this" She says out loud.
She steps back outside and goes to her new barn. Zadept comes to his door, hearing her. "Hey, old boy" She says, petting his star. She takes in the scents of her two horses and the fresh bedding.

Casey pulls in the drive again, back from her visit at the coffee shop. She runs into her house and fixes up, and nervously awaits for Morgan to arrive. She figures the best way to start a conversation is the horses, so she runs out to her barn, grooms Zadept beautifully, and brings him outside. Tying him to a post, she fetches Amidor, but the stubborn filly won't budge. Finally giving up, she goes back to her gelding and cleans his hooves until Morgan arrives.

Morgan drived in the with her red truck sailing along. It was a nice place that the girl had hear. Oh drat I had forgot to ask her for her name! she hit her hand on the steering wheel rim. she saw the horses outside and scoleded herslef for almost hitting the horn. that would have terrified the poor creature. She looked closely at the horse and wondered why he would ever be tied outside like that.
She parked the truck behind the Trans Am. then headed over to the stallion. His head turned toward her. She whispered and talked softly to him. she began to stroke his neck then his face. he was a very pretty boy. She looked down at his legs to see fairly straight confirmation.

You hear some footsteps and some buckets falling, as Casey comes clumbsily from inside the barn. Zadept, apon hearing the commotion, doesn't react and paws the ground. He sniffs your hands for peppermints. "Hey, sorry. I got him out so you could see! He ain't the fastest, but he sure is calm for a hot blood" she chuckles. She strokes her young gelding's muzzle, and he opens his lips, trying to nip her playfully. "Anyway, what do you think? Oh, and nice truck" She signals with her head tilt.

Morgan smiled at the colt. "No he's a nice looking colt you have. To bad he's gelded." she remarked to her. "and thank you it was gist from my family after we accomplished so much with Bubba." she stroked the horses cheek and fished out a pepperment stick from her pocket. She let him lip it up quickly then looked to the girl. "Oh I never caught your name." she told her.
Morgan looked around the farm and smiled. She couldn't see it all and she wasn't sure of what all was there. She looked back to her and patted the horses shoulder lightly.

"Im Casey" She smiled politely, trying to look the least naive as possible. "He hasn't won a race in his life. But I ain't gonna give up on 'em. Win or lose, he's still a horse. And he's a good friend of mine." She stops petting him. "So do you have a horse?" She asks, untying Zadept and getting ready to take him to pasture.

Morgan listend as, Casey, talked. She nodded. "Yes I have bubba coming with me to stand at stud. then I have Hear Ye Hear Ye, my three year old mare shipping out. She's won a few. Likes sloppy surfaces best for some odd reason." she said with a slight chuckle, stepping back so she could lead the horse away. She watched the gelding walk away from her. She watched his movements and saw his hind left hoof sway alittle when it was off the ground. She cocked her head and followed.
"has he ever had any tendon or legiment issues?" she asked Casey. She watched him walk, wondering if she was seeing things or not. Not horse could every be this calm, she thought. She looked at his eyes. They seemed clear but then again he was walking away from her.

"Not that I know of, why?" Casey stopped him and walked him back, watching his legs with untrained eyes. "Is something wrong with him?" Apon seeing the uneven gate, she picks up the left hind hoof, and the gelding's ears play back; the young horse is obviously in some sort of stress. "Daddy never told me anything happened to him...?" She shakes her head as she releases the apendage.

Morgan watched him move his ears at the touch. She slipped in next to his leg and ran her hand down it with just enough pressure to feel heat. She felt slight heat right in his cannon. She stood up again and smiled slightly. "It's nothing serious, probably banged his leg when he was in the trailer. Here let me show you what to do to fight swelling and inflamation." She took hold of the lead rope and walked him over to the inside of the barn. He placed him in the unused cross ties and turned to casey.
"Do you have any bandages and cold water?" she asked her while stroking the colt soflty so he didn't fret about not getting to go outside and graze. She looked in his eyes to see they where clear. It's a new injury so it has nothing to do with his past races. she told herself.

"Um, yeah, I think so." She runs over to some boxes, just put there from moving trucks this morning. She digs around in the box, and finds purple bandages. "Will these do?" She hands them to Morgan. She goes back, and retreives a bucket and fills it with water. "It isn't a racing injury, right?" The wind blows very hard, knocking over something just outside the barn. Zadept, already being under stress, freaks out. He throws his head, and kicks with both hind legs, his eyes rolling. I grab your shoulder and stand between you and the horse, careful to make sure you don't get hurt. Once the horse calms down, they move in to evaluate.

She shook her head, startled as yuo pulled me back. "These will work fine and no it's not a racing injury." she told her in a calm voice. She stood up and slipped her jacket off. She slipped it over and onto his face gently. "Easy boy this won't hurt you." she let it drupe over him so he would relax. The darkness would sooth him as long as nothing sursprised him. She ran her hand down his neck and over his back. Working down to his leg again she undid the bandage and soaked it in the water.
"good boy Zadept, yes good boy." she said in a kinda cheeky voice so he concentrated on her voice and nothing else. Taking the bandage she wrapped it from the bottom of his hock up his cannon bone. It was somewhat tight but this would press the coldness into the heat source. She pinned it up and said softly. "Do you have any heat ointements?" she asked her. She needed to rub it in on the skin so it sucked up the heat.

Once he's calm, Casey goes straight to petting his neck, making sure he is nice and calm. She doesn't want to risk getting anyone hurt. "Uhh, no, sorry. I used the last of it when Amidor got hurt. Here, I'll just have a vet come out tomorrow." Once you stand up, she leads him off into his stall, giving him his meal and talking to him softly. "I'm so sorry about all that" She wipes off mud flung from his tantrum. "I don't know why he got so excited, he usually doesn't get upset much." She fetches more feed, this time going to the opposite side of the barn, to a much larger horse. As she opens the hatch to pour the bucket of grains in, Amidor, shoves her head out her window, taking a good look at you. Her head is quite large, and she carries it high. Her left eye, looking right at you, is white-rimmed and almost eerie looking. Once all her feed is poured, she nudges Casey out of the way with her magnificant head and begins eating.

Morgan shruggs "It's okay i've had worse happen to me." She smiled at her and patter the horse softly. "Now you be a good ol' boy ya hear?" she told him softly before walking off to the next horse. A heavy headed and large boned mare stared at her. she saw her push Casey away when she was given all her feed. she sqwinted her eyes at her and watched her as her veltely kissers pushed the feed around tehn eat it. cocking a brow she examined the rest of her. It slightly reminded her of her old mare, Barney, now she hadn't been a racer. She had been a broodmare that produced some fine stock.
She chuckeld softly when the mare seemed to glare at her. She looked to Casey. "If you want I can come over and take Zadept to my place and treat him. No vet needs to get involved in this." she told her softly, keeping one eye on the mare the other on the girl.

"That'd be great! How much do you charge?" She asked as she went to the hay room. Kicking a tabby barn cat out of the way and blowing the grasses out of her face, she comes back and throws some into Amidor's stall, the huge bay pinning her ears at first, mistaking the grass-ridden Casey as an imposter. Casey comes back with her checkbook and pen, ready for your price.

Morgan shook her head with a slight laugh. "No no think nothing of it! I've nursed plenty of horses back to health. he shouldn't even be at my place for more than two days. it's fine." she told her. she looked to the moody mare adn wondered if they would ever meet her in a race this coming race season.
